PIT BULL TIRE FAILURES
Back to Main
I have started this page because 99.9%  of the feedback are glowing reviews. To lend more credence to these Pit Bull Tires, I have started this page. These tires have exploded onto the market, and as more people buy these tires, put thousands of miles on these tires, and put them through the paces the real testing begins. I pride myself on being an Independent Atv Magazine, and that involves reporting the good and bad of everything.

As everyone knows these Pit Bull Tires are my #1 Tire from fast pace riding to extreme technical riding, and moderate mud riding. These are the hottest tires on the market and to date has built of reputation of having excellent traction, excellent durability, and excellent wearability. However, these tires are not 100% bullet proof, and Mike the Owner of Pit Bull Tires will admit this. Of course in all fairness no tire is 100% bullet proof and I do not want people to have a false belief they will never receive a flat with these tires. Out of thousands, and thousands miles on these tires the below tire failures are what we have experienced.  This page will be updated periodically, so check back often.
Greg Jacobs first flat Pit Bull 25" Rocker 8ply 12" Tire

In my 2,500 Miles of riding this was my first Pit Bull Rocker flat. A 3" nail provided this flat. Technically, I do not consider this a "true flat" since a 3" nail is going to provide a flat on any tire. However, it is considered a flat.

We like to refer to Big Lee as "Captain Chaos". His brother Roger likes to tell people that Lee could tear up an anvil with a rubber mallet. When Lee takes to a quad anything and everything can happen. When I rolled up on the below scene, Lee comes up to me, and tells me I received a flat. The first thing I said "I told you not to run 14" tires, lol..." Lee busted out laughing, and said "That is exactly what Roger said you were going to say." It is true I do not like 14" tires, for the simple fact there is less sidewall and more likely for sidewall punctures, regardless of tire. That is what I have learned from 10 years of riding. Of course a 14" tire will have less sidewall flex, and was originally designed for UTVs or SxS, since it added stability due to additional weight of the SxS vs Quad. Now, don't get me wrong a 12" tire can receive a sidewall flat, but it is less likely, since the sidewall will flex more.

So, how did Big Lee receive this flat? Little Lee and Big Lee were racing down a very rocky trail, and Big Lee mention his front left tire smashed into a very large rock, and he could feel the tire slam into the wheel. Basically, he pinched the sidewall from a hard impact. This flat only took one plug, but we would find out later in the day, Big Lee could do one better.

Later at night Big Lee was racing with Small Lee and myself. Big Lee was behind me, and he said I kicked up a very large boulder that was heading for him, and it landed right in front of his right front tire, and he knew immediately he hit it. Again, he could feel the tire slam into the wheel.

We thought this will be a quick plug, but it ended up taking 9 plugs!!! It was the worst sidewall tear I have ever seen. He hit that rock so hard it literally took a chunk out of the wheel. This does qualify for a real world flat, but it goes back to I do not like a 14" Tire due to the lack of sidewall. Captain Chaos does get the Pit Bull Worst Tire Flat Award to date. Bear in mind, Lee than rode 80 miles back to camp on this tire, with no issues.
